A Womans View of Good Old Fashioned Baseball
It's really exciting to think that you are sitting beside the man of your dreams amongst a large throng of people watching a guy hit a ball and run around a field.NOT!
Well this is the way you may be thinking at the moment if you don't understand baseball. Once you learn the basics though you are going to see your interest spark, and pretty soon you will be the one jumping up and he will be most amused and impressed with your enthusiasm.
Basically baseball consists of nine players. The object of the game is for the batter to hit the ball, and before it can be caught and thrown back to the home plate he has to get around all four bases which includes the home plate.(this is where he started when he hit the ball).
Once the batter hits the ball and runs to the first base, if he thinks he can't get to the second before the ball is caught and returned, then he can stay there. He waits till another batter hits the ball again then they both run to the next base.
The nine positions are as follows...
pitcher
catcher
1st baseman
2nd baseman
shortstop
3rd baseman
right field
center field
left field
So now you know just by the positions, who does what when on the field. Now there are lots of extra players in a team but this is just a starter for you.
